3rd International Conference on Social Work, Law and Human Rights

Recently, the centre successfully organised its third edition of the International Conference on Social Work, Law and Human Rights on March 16 - 17, 2024. The theme of this edition of the conference was “Access to Justice in South Asia".

WHO WE ARE

The GNLU Centre for Law and Society is the focal point for socio-legal research at Gujarat National Law University that facilitates interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research, study and teaching of law and society, and law and legal institutions. The Centre encourages multidisciplinary perspectives to inform analysis and debate on socio-legal issues, thereby providing the richest and most comprehensive approach to research and policy-making. Findings originating at the Centre will be disseminated through conferences and symposia, journals, in-house student vignettes, and policy white papers. The foundation of the GNLU Centre for Law and Society is a set of members whose research interests are focused on an interdisciplinary study of the Law and Society. The expertise includes examination of and inquiry into law-related issues from the perspectives of a broad range of disciplines, such as anthropology, communication, critical gender studies, economics, environmental studies, ethnic studies, history, linguistics, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, and urban studies and planning.

Prayas Education Drive

Commitment to Education

In partnership with the PRAYAAS Foundation, the Centre educated underprivileged children through organized campaigns in Saraspur, Ahmedabad. The objective was to provide structured education to deprived children in underprivileged settlements, addressing the lack of basic amenities and limited resources. The primary objective of these campaigns was to provide structured education to children deprived of educational opportunities.
