What We Do

Multi-Disciplinary Research

The centre encourages multidisciplinary perspectives to inform analysis and debate on socio-legal issues, thereby providing the most comprehensive approach to research and policy-making. It seeks to examine and inquire into law-related issues from the perspectives of a broad range of disciplines, such as anthropology, communication, critical gender studies, economics, environmental studies, ethnic studies, history, linguistics, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, and urban studies and planning.

The mission of the Centre is to study, reflect on, and promote an understanding of the role of law in society. The aims is to identify issues of contemporary interest and importance, and distil academic expertise and analysis in order to equip practitioners with knowledge of immediate relevance to their work. Our aim is to make our work easily accessible to professionals in government, business, or the law, and in so doing, to bridge the gap between academia and policymaking. We intend to bring together researchers and thinkers at our programs and events and disseminate the insights and analysis of leading decision-makers through briefings, reports, and multimedia presentations. Driven by creativity and curiosity, the Centre strives to fulfil its social, cultural and economic obligations to India and the world.
